At UNF Wildlife Sanctuary May3, 2016

4th and 5th Grade Children learned about the marks animals can leave. These marks can include, footprints, scat, claw marks, urine, fossils, feathers, kill sites, nests, holes in the ground, holes pecked in trees, etc.
Ranger Justin had amazing knowledge of the Sanctuary!
After a long hike and lunch the children enjoyed
 playing on the island.

This was the site of a turtle nest that was destroyed.

Kenny and many others played deer looking for water, food or shelter. Kenny played shelter.
The trails were shaded and a cool breeze blew toward us all day.
It was perfect weather.

The 4th and 5th graders studied prints that animals could leave in the thicket and pine forest. They used measurement and data on animals ways of walking to determine the animal that left the footprints.
Your child should sleep well tonight!
Please make sure they get a shower,
and check them for ticks!
