SOCKTOBER Sock Drive

3rd and 4th Grade Gifted students are sponsoring a Sock Drive in October. They are declaring October SOCKTOBER! They will donate the socks to the homeless men,

women and children at the Sulzbacher Center in downtown Jacksonville. The students

researched a need in our community and thought they could make a difference. Please support

our SOCK DRIVE during the month of October.

  1. Marissa had a blast creating and coloring her poster. What a great service opportunity for the students.

  2. I agree - great service project that the kids can take ownership of. Riley asked me if she could go through all the socks in the house and take any that are too small...but she added "But they can't have holes in them, mom!". Hmmm...

  3. This is a great learning experience for the parents and kids! It's such a wonderful feeling to give, especially to those less fortunate.

  4. Norah has been so excited about this project, and she can't wait to bring in socks! She has really taken ownership in this, and we love the many lessons she is learning by collecting socks for the homeless shelter. Thanks, Mrs. Goethe!
